Market life

I've done 2 brilliant artisan markets over the past weeks - Clevedon Sunday Market and a new craft market in St Werburghs. I really enjoyed meeting people and chatting to them about my pots, my back garden studio, my glazes, and my plans.

Clevedon was my first outdoor market, and I really enjoyed how much the sun made my pots glow. The market was full of well dressed people who were having a lovely day out, and I really enjoyed the change of scene and the people watching. The volume of high quality making at the market is phenomenal! I'm keen to go back as a customer so I can look round all of the stalls.

I'm just back from the first St Werburghs craft market at the Wild Goose Space, and had a really super day. It was so lovely to be able to say to people that the pots are made in the area and to chat to some people. It evens out the solitude of working in my home studio!

Upcoming plans

The markets have cleared me out of large mugs so I'm glad I've got a batch of mugs that are almost dry enough to go in for a bisque firing. Expect to see them in my webshop in 10 days or so...

I've got some new glazes, so I'll be doing some test tiles for these too - exciting times!

Salt pig before firing
The bottom of a salt pig

At almost every market I've been to I've been asked whether I sell salt pigs. Finally, I've learned how to throw and finish salt pigs, so I'm glad I'll be able to say 'yes' when people ask.

They're also super fun to throw, although there is lots of potential to ruin them when cutting the hole in them!

Look at the gorgeous bottom of this salt pig - cut using a curly wire. I'm keeping this one!
